Sketches #14

Some practices.

Drawing studies on the human anatomy. This is training the eye to see the body from different perspectives. Its also to train the artist to be able to draw the body in the right proportions. Details are omitted as its not the main purpose, but rather the form, shapes & proportion.

Sketches #13

Sketches #13

Tools: Blue ball-point pen only.

Some quick sketches. These came out pretty fast. I'm beginning to see some speed, but the quality is still not there.

Recently, I have begin to read Inoue Takehiko's REAL. Its about competitive wheel-chair basketball. The mood and storyline is great! So much to learn from the manga series.

诗歌我OK - 1st illustrated book!

诗歌我OK
Hi guys,

I just came back from Surabaya, Indonesia; a couple of days ago. It was really a very rewarding trip. Will be posting up some pictures soon.

Well, this is it. My first illustrated book, 诗歌我OK. It contains many specially chosen chinese poems done by St. Hilda's Primary School's students. This book is cater for childrens who wish to learn and improve their Chinese creative writings. There are practices and tutorials at the back which teaches how you can express yourself through writing Chinese poetry. The tutorials are easy to follow.

The cover art is done by my Studio Chief, while the rest of the drawings in it were done by me. Although, I feel that the drawings were nothing spectacular, but well, its my FIRST! So I'm still feeling kinda excited about it. However, I need to work on my drawings to be better and faster~!I'm thankful for the opportunity to draw the book though.

诗歌我OK will be out in all Popular Bookstores islandwide by end of this December 2009. The cost of the book is price from $5-$6 Singapore Dollars. If you have managed to get it, do drop me an email and tell me what you think! I'm currently doing another book, it would probably be out by January.

So do keep a look out! More updates soon!

As always, keep drawings!

Mises à jour!

Hi guys,

Its time to post some updates. It has been a very hectic schedule for me the past 2 months ever since I started working as a comic-artist. Its been an enjoyable and learning experience! Currently, I'm working on a book which will be published by this month. I'm really excited and hope to show it to you all.

Secondly, I'll be heading to Indonesia next week for promotional events and give some comics training and workshops. I'm hoping to bring some pictures back to show. Its my first trip oversea as an artist, and I'm looking foward to it.

So to relax myself, I decided to visit Kinokuniya for some shopping! The pic shown here are the things I have bought from the visit.

On the far left, its ImagineFX 50th issue. With interviews by legendary painter Craig Mullins, posters by Andrew Jones and our very own local, Stanley "Artgerm" Lau. I have also bought Malcom Gladwell's book, Outliers.

10,000 hrs and clocking...

Wedding Matrimony Program list design

Order of Matrimony
Priase & Worship

This is my first time I ever did a program list design for someone's wedding. It was certainly a priviledge.

The idea in my mind was simple, short and sweet.

Some face studies that I'm working on.

Trying to figure out where light would falls on, how shadows would appear and how would light reflect and behave under rough or smooth surfaces.

Recently, I made an important observation. I realize that a good illustrator draws by a single stroke and not repeating strokes. This not only shows his confidence but also cuts back unnecessary waste of time, hence he is able to draw fast with accuracy. Amazing~

Sketches #5

Another sketch done at work.

Here's some updates:

Website: As mention previously, I'm curating my very own website. If all goes acccordingly, it will be up by the end of October.

Freelance projects: I'm open for any illustration and design projects currently. Feel free to email me at pureprojext @gmail.com.

Full-Time: Another important news is that I'll be joining a studio full-time into the comics and illustration industry. Its really something I have been planning and working hard for quite some years.

Dream the life you desire,
Speak it because your words frame your world,
Visualize yourself achieving your dream,
Believe in it even if nobody does;
but most importantly,
DO IT!

Cheers!
