Some Oil Painting Practise.

Last week, I continued my oil painting practise. This time I've attempted oil painting in 2.5 hrs. My artwork(Right side) trying to mirror the picture on the left. It's still WIP, so hope to complete it by next week and put it up here.

I haven't been back to the studio for almost a year due to busy schedules. So imagine my surprise when I find the same teacher, who still kept my past artwork below. I was so touched and thankful she still kept it.

(I was trying emulate Antonio Santos' work.)
Thank you for visiting.

365 Days of Sketches: Number #137

Tools: Photoshop CS4, Pencil for drawings, Ball Point Pen for inking.

With the fast pace of society, many people are facing stress and anxiety from many areas in their life. If you are facing stress, doing other things that doesn't require much cognitive thinking helps. One of the ways is to allow your hands to do the work, such as gardening, painting, cooking, etc. In a way, your hands are now doing the thinking, relieving you mind.

Personally, I don't enjoy gardening, however, when I'm painting, expecially when I'm oil painting. I don't think so much of the day, I simply enjoy the process of painting. I find that after painting for a couple of hours, my mind is relaxe.

"You don't have to control your thoughts. You just have to stop letting them control you." ~ Dan Millman

What other ways do you suppose we can reduce stress and anxiety? Feel free to leave your comments below.

p.s. Christmas is coming in 2 months time, have you gotten any presents yet? I hope you'll take time to visit some of the products at society6.com/joshlab.
